Conservatory Refurbishment or Full Replacement?
Compare a roof-led refurbishment with replacing a whole conservatory, and identify which parts of the existing structure need assessment.
Reviewed 29 September 2026 · Ultimate Conservatory Roof CompanyIf the frames and walls remain suitable, a project focused on replacing the roof and finishing the room may be worth comparing with a full rebuild. The condition and scope need a property-specific assessment.

What does refurbishment include?
The word refurbishment can describe very different jobs: new roof, replacement glazing, frame repairs, doors, insulation or internal finishes. Ask the supplier to list exactly which work it offers and whether other trades or separate contracts are needed.

When keeping the structure may be considered
If the existing conservatory’s frames, supports, walls and base are in suitable condition, a roof-led upgrade may renew the element you most want to change. That is established only through an assessment. Do not assume sound-looking frames can carry a different roof.
When a full replacement may be needed
Widespread structural deterioration, unsuitable foundations, major layout changes or several failing components may call for a broader project. Compare repair and replacement scopes, access, disruption, disposal and approvals before choosing.

Get separate scopes in writing
Ask which existing components remain, which are removed, what new roof or glazing system is specified, and how frame or base work is handled. Separate costs for roofing, windows, doors, electrics and decoration where they are not included in one contract.
Start with the problem and the structure
List the issues you want to solve and the components you hope to keep. The roof replacement and refurbishment pages describe the roof-led scope; ask the team to confirm the services available for your home.
Discuss the Right Roof for Your Home
Tell the team what you want to improve and where the conservatory is. They can discuss a suitable roof assessment and quotation.
